It looks like they can unsummon their equipment, sending them into hammerspace or some equivalent. Kongou's ship-like cannon rigging has also disappeared (with what looks like wisps of smoke, but that bit is hard to tell with the clouds in the background).

Note that Shimakaze didn't have her cannons out before the battle too. Don't think she placed them over her torpedo-tube backpack either; would be bulky enough to see if that's the case.

Isuzu also didn't have her Nagara-class bullpup cannon out (and neither were the straps visible). (the cannon suddenly appeared here)
