We had a dog like that. Really wanted you to throw the ball, but won't let go of it so you could without having to pull ot out of her month. Her predecessor, was better trained to drop the ball on a foot command, while her predecessor would drop the ball...about a foot out of reach, and never get tired of you throwing the ball. Would wear our three grown men and a little boy.
