Aren't croissants French, though?

I googled it a bit, and it says there's an Italian croissant-like bread named "Cornetto".

I got curious so I went even deeper! It looks like the croissant (that sometimes we also call "brioche" here in Italy; I don't know if there is an actual difference) is more recent than the "cornetto" and that the cornetto is inspired by the kipferl from Austria! To think that I thought that the cornetto was a copy of the croissant!

Ah yeah, when I googled I also found "brioche", but the image shown didn't crescent-shaped, so I though it's different.
