People have been using so-called "gunblades" since the invention of gunpowder. Apparently, they were call Pistol Swords back then.

Except most of them were pretty stupid. The furthest I know about a "gunblade" that are worth looking at are Bayonets.

Nah, it's a bayonet. Detachable. Attach when the shooting stops and the charge begins.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am an absolute gun crank. That being said, this image is just a photograph, no source, and no hint to being possibly related to any anime aside from happening to be the shotgun Triella used in GSG. So why is this here?

You have things like ax-guns that were used for boarding, but were insanely expensive.

Bayonets are also detachable, something that a blade that is also a gun can't promise.

I guess they were just really good at making "pointy stabby things".

Thinking about it, back in the First World War there is no such thing as a can opener, is there?

The bayonet and a rock will have to do.

Willie and Joe had a great comic with that idea, sadly I can't find a good archive with it.

Oh God, this is the most realistic gun drawing I've ever seen here.
