Her ability; does she have control over it i.e. she has to Actively be using it for it to work? Or is it strictly a curse and, if so, does she has some sort of object/medium she can use in order to communicate without being devastating?

She has to parse her words and make sure that what she says isn't an absolute statement.
Well, it seems that not literally everything gets turned to a lie. Take Reimu's scenario as example (since it's the only one translated to that point for now): when she says "My name is Sagume", it's not like her name suddenly becomes different, and when she says "I have the power to change the direction of the world with my words", she doesn't lose her powers to make that statement false. In this sense, it reminds me of Remilia's being able to "change the life of someone with just a word, but without knowing she is actually doing it". The ability itself can be seen as some sort of manipulation of fate if used correctly. However, unless we get some more infos, there's no way to tell to which extent this ability goes, if it has "weaknesses" that can neutralize it, or if she can write things down without activating the ability.
