Considering the protagonists and semiserious-to-silly switch in this sequence, it feels like they combined Hanamaru (Kashuu/Yamato, humor) and Katsugeki (tone, cherry blossom summoning) into one show.

Both were actually well received among fans. Hanamaru concentrated all of the silly and fan wished antics and was more of a slice of life. Meanwhile, Katsugeki was the designated action series. Some people didn't much like how the "protect history" plot was executed, but it did a good job with characterization.
