We already tag at least a couple different fairies; so I'd say if you can positively ID them, go ahead and do it.

Something went through my mind now: if Fubuki is a shipgirl and knows how to swim so well, then why shipgirls even sink in first place? They could simply swim and stay afloat until rescue arrives.

Unless the sea areas controlled by the Abyssals have some kind of tractor beam magic that pulls down anything except a shipgirl gear wearer, the beach and swim scenes in the Kancolle material don't make much sense.

Or unless Kouji's Fubuki actually is a (former?) submarine shipgirl.

In combat you could be knocked out to where you cant pull off your rigging, safety devices like lifesavers could be popped. Sinking is a work-safe way of saying they got blown apart into fish chum by the explosives.

There's also the bit where by the time they're hurt enough to sink, the girls are just so beat up to the point where they can barely move a muscle, if that. Usually only an arm for dramatic "Dying hand-to-face" moment.

Why must it always fall on me to black knight and point out that Kantai Collection has no world building and is neither worthy of nor able to stand up to any kind of logic.
