I think that's the point of the Joke, both Eren and Goku had horrible Live Adaptations, and apparently it doesn't matter if it's American made, (Dragonball Evolution), or Japanese made (Shingeki No Kyojin).

There is that Kenshin Himura movie that was praised by fans.

If Hollywood was adapting this, they would have made Edward 6' 5" and in his mid to late 20's.

Hollywood would cast Ben Affleck CGI'd up younger to play Edward and Alphonse would be a recycled CGI of the Iron Monger from Iron Man I and voiced by James Edward Olmos. It would be super dark and gritty, with a body count in the tens of thousands and massive amounts of wangst, and would have a love dodecahedron with Winry played by Melissa McCarthy.

And it all ties up in the anime shounen cinematic universe.

Live Action Gatchaman and Yatterman have also been disappointing.
