I hear Denchubo, the artist that drew Ellen Baker, is asking these people to stop drawing her so lewdly.

Some people might stop because of that.

Some people just want to watch the world burn and will do it even more out of spite.

Never thought I'd see the day when I felt quite a bit of guilt over posting this kind of stuff.

The worse part is it won't end without her being forgotten. For as long as she's on the internet, there will be lewds drawn of her. When the lewds stop, it means the internet found something else to sexualize and she'll be left behind the times.

Rule 34 is harsh on the good-looking.

It is our duty as citizen of the Internet to go beyond and embrace the responsibility of oversee the beginning and the end of Rule 34.

In my experience, the more you tell the Internet to not do something the more it's going to happen. What Denchubo should have done was encourage more wholesome art, like maybe hold an impromptu contest for people to depict Ellen doing something teacher-ish. People would be more inclined to flood the web with clean images if there was the chance to win five minutes of fame.

Pretty much this on all counts.

It's too bad New Horizon's publishers missed the opportunity to do just that, which would have helped boost their books' popularity in educational institutions.

Instead, this faux outrage and the accompanying blowback is not going to have a happy ending if allowed to fester.

When it comes to Japanese artists, though, a lot of them actually will stop.

We need a "Ellen is a good girl" pool, to match "Kashima is a good girl"...

And he can pound them with copyright threats. I imagine he'd get some very vicious backing from parent-teacher associations, given how OCD they are over in Japan about anything they believe "corrupts" children.

I think the last thing he wants is to involve the PTAs in this.

If people won't back down, his only option is the nuclear option, unfortunately. And past experience indicates that people being told not to sexualize a beautiful fictional female are generally going to ignore the request.
