Choke! むせる(Museru = Choke) is an in-joke among Japanese Votoms fans. It came from the lyric of the show's OP, Honoo no Sadame: ほのおのにおい　しみついて　むせる Choked by the scent of flames that seems to cling to me The joke is on a part of the scene in the OP with the main character in shadow on a bright red background and the word むせる on it, giving it somewhat a surreal vibe. From there, むせる evolves into the term that symbolized gritty and harsh things happened to the show's main character or any AT pilots.
