If you've never seen how popcorn is made and don't expect that it's going to pop then I suppose natural reaction for that would be to get really scared.

Popcorn's rappid machinegun sound pop as it is cooking would scare any little children. As she never seen or heard popcorn cooking, Medicine thought the covered popcorn was going the explode. Also, I like Caramel covered popcorn.

Maybe it did Rathurue, I wondered about the cover over the frying pan. The cover looked like a type of creip or pancake. Why did the pancake cover disintegrate while the popcorn was popping?

That cover on the pan is the bowl Osa-Reimu is pouring the popcorn into.
