    徒歩30分なら100元もそんなにぼったくりってわけではないんですけどね(^^;)
    ただまあ、30元前後で結構な量食べられるので、100元分食べていいなら歩きますよ!(笑)

    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 1988

It's not as if 100 yuan is that much of a ripoff for what'd be a 30-minute walk, though. (^^;)

Still though, I could eat quite a bit for around 30 yuan, so if it's okay to eat 100 yuan worth, I'll walk! :-)

Just remember that those 100 yuan may not be eaten all at once, Kogasa....

Also, I voted meat in the poll.

TV surveys! There's nothin' left to eat...

What would you eat for a snack?
    • Candy
    • Bread
    • Cup noodles
    • Floury food
    • Meat

Reader-added tags include "Faithful to one's appetites", "No 'Curry' in the poll", and "Steak is a dessert".

I'd put meat in a curry for a snack. Huzzah for loopholes!

In Taiwan, they don't use yuan, they use New Taiwan Dollars. At least in 2008 when I last visited Taiwan.

    NT$100 = $3.06 ~= 333 yen = 20 yuan. So not much, unless Kogasa-author is referencing Chinese yuan.

I think he's confused by it, or the translation was. It's still NTD, at least according to Google.

Still do, but everyone calls them yuan. Sort of like referring to US dollars as bucks or British pounds as quid.

That's more or less it. The original Japanese uses the term 元, which in this context means "yuan". There's no differentiation for NTD here.
