    I've seen the "The military sees the living weapons as nothing more than weapons" setup millions of times, but I think this is the first time that I've seen a "The military sees them as just weapons, but the general public sees them as people" situation. Interesting.

    Actually, it's more like the Navy sees them as weapons. The Army itself in general views the shipgirls as heroes and/or people, since Reiji himself stated that the Army's opinion of shipgirls is pretty much the same as the general public.

    ...No. Receptions inside the Army were pretty much the same, though.
    Not as humans, nor as heroes, but as equipments of national defense.
