Nah, he'd never manage to solo the base. The bases's little mama would put him down for wasting resources long before he took everyone else out.

So... The Admiral can cooperate with Nagato to split the rest of the shipgirls between them along clear lines: Nagato gets all the lolis, the Admiral gets all of the non-lolis (minus Nagato, perhaps). Simple agreement. Now, the problem of course is coming up with a practical plan to implement it.

I'm fairly certain 酒の片手間 is an expression rather than to be taken literally, especially since 片手間 as a whole means "during spare time" and there's no visual indication that Hibiki's holding a wine.

Still, I can't quite find reference on it online. Any translation fairy to the rescue :D?

That one would be hard to transliterate in English. I guess it's still possible but the sentence would be like 2~3 times longer than the original and won't look very pretty. So if you could, just pick any similar-meaning English metaphor. This whole thing is not easy for me, who's not native in either English or Japanese...

I would translate it as "that's the wine at work..."

Seeing that he and Inazuma were both from the same augmented squadron, NanoDEATH probably retains some failsafe system to ensure that she can have her way with Reiji when he takes things too far.

I'm interested in knowing how you came up with that as I just can't wrap my head around 酒の片手間. Taken literally, it's "sake's free time". Many google searches later, I supposed it means "when one's not drinking". Put that into context and it probably is an indirect way of saying "finally done with your drunk rambling?" or "done with the banter, now moving on into the main topic"?

Why is Japanese so confusing :V.

Not like I'm a hundred percent either, but:

My dictionary has 片手間 as also meaning 'side job', or as something one does in their spare time, not the spare time itself. So that makes it mean 'what the wine is doing on the side.'

I assume Nagato is saying the primary purpose of a fine vintage like Hibiki is drinking is the taste. That it makes you drunk is a side effect, but not an unimportant one.

In fact, that's the sort of idea I had in mind when I first translated it. Hibiki's not seriously trying to solve any problems here, just messing with others and enjoy it as a side dish to her drinks. I felt this would kinda make sense if I just change it straight into English, but looks like the message wasn't totally clear without explanations.
Not that I like what I did here, though. As I said, let's not be too literal.

Can't you find some way to have another copy of the book, scan and upload the missing pages here? There's no need for this comment at all.

Also, there's a sure way that the scans of missing pages would be instantly approved after three days unless yua (checkmate) request bans to prevent those missing pages from being uploaded.

Wanted to say the same, for most of us getting our hands on copies isn't exactly practical... and useless for those of lack a scanning machine or knowledge of written Japanese.
