I wonder if there will bew Alola forms of other Pokémon from other generations. These five are all Kanto Pokémon. I hope they'll add some Pokémon from other Gens, too. And btw. Eevee would perfectly fit into this concept. But apparantly, it won't get any evolution this time :(.

Other then Gen II, any new Eeveelution would skip a generation.
It seems like a cultivation of the variety concept fans came up with, alongside the regional differences introduced in the anime and the delta variants in the TCG. Being a Monster Hunter player on the side as well, it reminds me of the subspecies you see in monsters like Agnaktor and Zamtrios, which make appearances in specific environments based on their biology.
So far this game looks like a giant love letter to the first gen. Since it's the 20th anniversary I guess it makes sense for them to do that.
They've been doing that since firered and leafgreen.... this game is full of new ideas and experimentation if you ask me, not necessarily genwunner paradise. In gamefreak's eyes, these 5 pokemon were fit to be encountered in Alola, but needed some way to adjust to the environment. So far, these are the only regional formes we've seen.
