A mascot was wanted in the game and this is how Chironnup's first design came about. It obviously wasn't going to be a normally cute demon, but something overflowing with the Megaten 'cuteness'. There are very few legends surrounding Chironnup, so I used words like ‘Ainu’, ‘fox’, ‘spirit’, ‘hunting’ as inspiration and didn’t raw him as just a fox, but turned him into a very young spirit wearing a wooden mask.
