It did more than just humble him
He was outright suicidal
He then turned homicidal when Rodimus rescued him from his own Suicide attempt to take out the guys who were following them
He only stopped because it turns out one of his first true friends from his time as a miner was on that planet placed in a coma by the local god to let him heal from his wounds and as a way to repent for his own past actions by saving those who history considers lost and forgotten
Long story short Terminus the guys name and Megatron decided to stay behind an alternate reality their group found themselves in where Megatron was never born and the both of them winded up leading the resistance there....because even though he wasn't born their government was still corrupt as shit
Megatron got a redemption
Starscream actually does stuff for the greater good at least what he views as the greater good for everyone but him
