American health "care" system is actually an oddity among developed countries. In most others (at least in Europe) you don't need to sell your kidney to pay off 2 hours of staying in hospital after fainting (oh sweet irony).
On the other hand, at least you usually know what you pay for, the aforementioned "country pays basic medical fees" has a drawback in that many so called "doctors" and "nurses" frankly don't care because they get paid too little.
