Well since this is admibro's akatsuki, then we all know that she IS a true lady... And her sisters consist of a masochist, a muscle fetishist, and someone with a help complex

Wait what were the characterizations in the Koujiverse for the Akatsukis?

You know, people are thinking that he ringed Akatsuki first since he's in love with her, and thus all the lolicon jokes, but I see it differently.

Before, he sent the Dev 6 out on a mission where Akatsuki got badly injured. And because of that failure, to properly take care of his subordinates who also happened to look like young children, he made the decision to quit. Perhaps with the notion of "if I can't protect even the girls under my command what right do I have to command them?"

But when the girls came back, Akatsuki, who had been damaged and had the right to call the Admiral out, just smiled and announced the success of the mission. That small action changed the Admiral, as he said it himself, and that was when he became a true "Admiral." He wanted some way to make up for his transgression and the feeling that he owed Akatsuki for her role in his change. So to do that, the best thing he could think of was to make her the first shipgirl to be ringed.

I know the dialogue was translated as "Please marry me" and thus everyone is jumping on the love train, but the "marry" part was in katakana, not kanji. In fact the whole marriage system is written in katakana, which sorta shows that it's not "real" marriage, but a "fake" marriage. So I don't think that he's in love with Akatsuki, but that the ring was a way to show his immense gratitude towards her and a desire to make that into a strong bond, sealed with the ring.

I think that's why he can get away with ringing multiple girls later on, because it's not like he's trying to make a harem or anything. The ring represents a bond, and he wants to use it to show his gratitude to those girls under his command that have helped him become the person he is in the present. Akatsuki was the first because she was the one who actually made him realize the weight of the title "Admiral."

So, no need for the MPs lol.

    Lots and lots.

That I do think people know. And it's not like there's that many MPs anyway. These admirals go marrying their DDs for the hell of it.

And a side note, that marriage is the ingame marriage system. Name is Kekkon Kakkokari - Marriage (temporary name) or provisional marriage. Not a fake one. This, many people know of, and I guess you do too. Just making it clear so those who don't don't get the wrong idea.

Your analysis makes sense and thinking it over, I agree with you, but it's kind of depressing. Pretty sure all those girls he's ringed and the girls he's promised to ring treasure their provisional marriage as if it were the real thing. At the very least their feelings of love are real. To have their "husband" not feel the same way is really sad.

All the same, it doesn't mean he doesn't love any of the girls.

He pretty clearly doesn't see Akatsuki in a romantic light, and when he takes Akatsuki out on other "big dates" like when Akitsu Maru catches them, he's taking her to a family diner to get hamburger.

That said, his relationship with Ooi seems serious, although on a really low simmer. When Kongou tried to confront Ooi, she plainly didn't care, and she seemed to imply that her love was on a level deeper than the "fake" marriages.
