After careful pondering, I think my direction would be a slab of some kind of raw fish like Tuna or Salmon with a side of mashed potatoes (well seasoned and buttered so gravy is not needed). Steak tartare scares me, even though I am sure it is perfectly safe if fresh.
EDIT: Oh, wait wait! Since we are going extravagant anyways, substitute the fish for grilled eel! Oh yeah! A side of tumbleweed onions (kind of like tempura I guess) with sour cream and chopped green onions, and a alternate dip of spicy BBQ sauce. Add some sourdough bread while you are at it. Miso soup is cheap and goes well with anything so add that too!
