This is why I usually give gift cards to walmart or something like that. The best thing would be to give cash but thats a bit tacky for society in most cases with the exception of kids or your juniors.

Ah, but gifts aren't claimable on your tax returns. Customs yes, possibly post, but never tax unless it's specified by both businesses as a fringe benefit.
