I can understand the desire to prevent reposting, somewhat, but why does he only get upset when people comment on cheating? He deliberately chose to draw and post online images of his self-insert character having an affair with his "waifu" looking on and getting upset. I mean, he's drawn basically the fights and them being a mixed family. If he didn't think people would have opinions about that at all, why would he share it, even with a Japanese audience?

If you are the artist and want to have this banned (banned =/= deleted), you should contact user #1 (albert) about this matter. Because from a mere quality point of view, I'd approve this.

There are plenty of japanese artists that don't speak english that got their work under the ban flag. Pretty sure Albert does but even if he doesnt, there are enough mods to help him for that considering the dislcaimer page is made in both englisn and japanese anyway.

OK, I ran Sinen's comments by an e-friend of mine who is fluent in Japanese, and who shall remain anonymous until he decides otherwise, and here's what he gave me. Some parts are somewhat vague, and are denoted by parantheses within the quotes showing the possible alternative translations; parantheses outside the quotes are my e-friend's own comments.

'Every time (you guys see/I post) a picture involving sex or affairs or something, you dig up all this stuff from the past and call me unfaithful, but most of my pictures have nothing to do with sex at all, they're just peaceful daily life scenes. Don't see any comments about those, though.

And no one seems to care that there are bunch more pictures of Yamato, either.

That third comment there is the most important, IMO. There may be hope for retaining his works around here yet.

Also, in hindsight, I'm beginning to think that there may be a big miscommunication happening between us and Sinen: Basically, Sinen may have imparted vital context on several of the submissions that he had drawn and which several of us criticized for perceived "unfaithfulness" through his commentary on them, yet nobody here actually translated those comments into English, so if such context was present, it was completely lost on us, and Sinen may not be aware of that.

Can someone please look over the commentary for the relevant posts? You know, the one where Yamato first displaced Yuyuko as Sinen's waifu, the other one where they first fought physically, and the recent one with Sanae?

Which, again, just makes me ask the question, "If you didn't want people to say you were cheating on your waifu, why did you draw yourself cheating on your waifu?" If he just wanted to draw Sanae having sex, he didn't have to draw Sanae having sex with his stand-in character. He deliberately made a multi-image storyline with the plot being how Sanae was a second-favorite. For that matter, rather than having Munmu-san leave Yuyuko to marry Yamato, he could have just created an alternate character, or an "alternate universe" where alternate Munmu-san was never married to Yuyuko to start with. For that matter, if he really wanted to show him sleeping with tons of women, he could have just straight-up declared it a harem, and been done with it. It was a deliberate choice to make images where Munmu-san cheats, gets caught cheating, and for that cheating to result in fights for comic effect.

Gomasamune also did a long-running series on his own 'waifu', and what it meant to change over from Touhou to KanColle, and in that series, there's both cheating and comments on the cheating, but it's also one where the joke is basically about how Flan has to threaten direct violence and use spies to keep her husband under her porch, and where the Gomasamune character can also be the butt of jokes.

As for why people "focus upon" how someone "only cheats some of the time," and "is being faithful most of the time," (Wow, try using that excuse on your significant others, guys... "But Sweetie, why don't you focus more on the days of the week when I'm NOT banging your sister?!") it's just a matter of basic storytelling. Draw a series of twenty images of a tree slowly growing, then one where the tree is struck by lightning, then ten more of the tree regrowing, followed by one where the tree is chopped down and replaced with a parking lot, and do you honestly expect the sixteenth "tree growing" image to get as much attention as the lightning or paving images? Affairs and violence are dramatic. There isn't much to comment on about an image where someone is just eating omelettes, especially when most people can't read the story to go with it.

You make several good points, but I prefer to hear a more detailed explanation from Sinen's side first before making any judgements.

NWSiaCB is far more delicate with expression and reasoning on this subject matter, I'd agree with him as well.

I get the impression he can read English pretty well judging by his on-point responses to his quoted comments (see post #2526703 and post #2526708, and his responses to NWSiaCB here).

As for talking to him in Japanese, well, Sinen sounds... intensely emotional in most of his comments so far, and I don't trust myself to be diplomatic even when speaking in English, so there's that. We need someone who can handle this, uh, well, delicately.

Aaaaand all of his posts are gone and he's been made into a banned artist. Is this final, or just a step in the negotiation process?
