    That also explain why Katsuragi got her rigging - they're down one carrier now.

    The fact her voice seems loud enough to displace as much air as an explosion explains why she uses signs, except when she needs to be that loud (like in the battlefield.

    I guessed as much. The page with Hiyou staring at the open sea on the pier and talking about "waiting" was almost a giveaway.

    Spoilers (in case it gets uploaded at some point)

    Jun'you and Hiei sacrifice themselves with a smile distracting Southern Oni so everyone else can get away; Haruna then gives a stirring speech upon returning about how they can't give up, and berating everyone for being sad-sacks - culminating in her second most famous line while being filled with determination.

    It's very clear that they were obliterated by Southern, and Kirishima gives their condition as sunk in the AAR.

    Also...

    On the one hand, Southern Ocean War Oni has broken up the Kongou sisters, as now they'll only be three instead of four,and I'll miss Jun'you and her laugh. And her wisdom, which she extended to Akagi.

    On the other hand, the secret of Hiei curry sunk with Hiei...

    Someone should prepare some Hiei-inspired curry.
