    It is ironic, however, seeing as during WW2, 'thinness' was hardly a 'problem' with US Navy Coffee. - unless you considered the lack of such to be the problem!
    While certainly true of the general public's, the American Navy's Coffee of WW2 was so notoriously thick that it's said a visiting British Officer actually mistook it for Heavy Fuel Oil!
    It still had the common complaint issue of sweetness, however, as they somehow found a way to add even more sugar than the average American of the time - but this was to taste, and several notable American Naval Commanders liked theirs bitter in certain circumstances (Halsey, for instance, for staying awake).
