From what I can tell, apparently it was an event item or some other drop that you collect to get something from her. I guess, not quite sure. That or she marvels at the sight of modern manufacturing techniques, which is equally possible.

It's more gameplay mechanics than spec fuel, because she uses screws in-game to improve your equipment.
For those not playing the game, certain periodical quests and event maps reward you with improvement materials. Those in-game items have a screw icon. The improvement materials allow you to power up equipment by setting Akashi as secretary, depending on week day and who is on second slot. The more improved an equipment is (ranging from +1 to +9 and MAX) the more screws and secondary equipment it needs... and the more susceptible it will fail along with your hard earned materials wasted when you gamble with a few of them.
