One rarely sees the sun in England, because of the poor weather. The last time I've been to the UK, people started dropping dead on the streets when the thermometer topped 27˚C.
Scotland was fine in the summer. It only seemed to rain when we were inside, and the sun came out about 40% of the time. It did tend to be overcast a lot though.
Is it true that England rains, like, very frequently?
Top Gear once said something to the effect of, "The fact that England buys the most convertibles in Europe is proof of how optimistic the British people are. When it's sunny, they can put the top down and enjoy the lovely weather. Then, they can put the top back up the other 364 days of the year."
I also went to London once when it had "unusually warm" weather, actually getting near 25 C. The supposedly four-star hotel had a collapsed pull-out bed to sleep on, was smaller than a college dorm room, and had no form of air conditioning aside from opening the window. We were directly over the street in downtown London, which doesn't exactly stop having traffic past 10 PM.
