I'm temped to add this to "defeating the purpose" pool, I mean what else a carrier without planes serves apart from a faster sitting duck target?

I understand that, but what other carrier can hold 46 planes on one slot... or 98 overall? Any other ship type can attack with only turbines and boilers, but a CV/CVL? It can't do anything excepting maybe fooling a branch rule. Houshou, Jun'you and Hiyou really have troubles about being slow types. She's just getting a debuff because she is too powerful in-game.

I better stop there, I'm crossing the line like certain plot analysts commenting here and I don't want to get that far. xD

or, you know, CV avoidance-tanking meta confirmed, with the insane maneuverability and speed, dodging shells left and right; and DDs can never hope to catch her....

Well she was the one Combined Fleet carrier that sat out the Indian Ocean raid. And she was originally a battleship that was slightly superior to Nagato, while Akagi was a battlecruiser. Shinano (27 knots) was slower than Kaga, but by the war I'm not sure if Kaga could maintain her top speed of 28 knots. Shinano definitely had a faster cruising speed than Kaga. 18 knots verses 15 knots.

Even better news! It seems like her shtick is going to be larger numbers of lower tier planes... which is a terrible, terrible idea for a CV that will commonly see T8 or even T9 so their is a high probably she'll actually be actively bad with all her planes spontaneously combusting if they so much as brush up against the aura of anything at T7+ with a high AA stat or the AA consumable.
