    Concerning the carriers' camouflage

    The camouflage applied to Chitose, Chiyoda, Zuiho, and Zuikaku was not for hiding the ships from view, but for masking the ship's class and heading. Dazzle camoflage was fairly popular during World War II and was applied to several Japanese carriers.
