Japanese people hate root beer, check. Root beer is one of those drinks that were traditionally fermented lightly with only a small amount of alcohol produced, much like various low alcohol beverages available around the world that people under the standard drinking age are allowed to drink. Also those are some impressive poses in the middle of a wall of text, are they a reference to something.
Though apparently most of my Thai peers hate the smell of it. They say it smells like Tiger Balm (a rubbing balm popular with athletes) which is off-putting when it's coming from something you're supposed to eat.
