Seriously speaking, most of the animals that were turned into friends are either vegetarians or at least somewhat omnivorous, and even the couple of hypercarnivores may have been given some tolerance for digesting plant matter, so the buns are probably just steamed vegetable dumplings.

Although, unless Kaban has the capacity to synthesize Vitamin B12, she may be the only one in trouble...

I don't know, it all looks quite redundant to me. It's not in Kaban-chan's nature to deny helping out her friends in need.

Wasn't it explained that Japari Bun had all the nutritional stuff so the Friend will be content to it?

Would this fall under "Redundancy"? They're solving a problem in a rather unorthodox way, but I'm not sure if it could be called redundant.
