Akigumo still looks good, even if she's conventional in style.

Hamakaze and Hibiki are more exotic.

I don't think someone who usually spends her free time in her room drawing doujinshi actually cares about her fashion or feminity.

You know I personally kind of find the prospect of a woman that gives no shits about fashion and just orders sweatpants and t-shirts on the cheap by the dozen online more attractive...

That's because you don't want to spend money on her and you consider the idea of both eating scrambled eggs, instantaneous noodles and cheap fast food for dating attractive. :P

Not exactly a bad thing, mind you.

Well no, because I can cook quite well and enjoy doing so, and better food actually has tangible benefits in terms of nutrition and health, additionally it can be argued fairly easily that a key functional parameter of food is to be appetizing in terms of taste and texture so paying a bit more is actually improving the object's functionality. A closer comparison would be me presenting you two packages of butter one is Land O' Lakes (a large US brand name) and the other is a generic store brand, the name brand costs more, but there is a very high probability both came from the exact same fucking cows and even the same dairy plants. Another example would be say you intend to just toss that butter into a roux to thicken something, there is almost no chance you will taste that damn butter distinctly in the end product over the strong ingredients it's likely being added to so if you use some imported European shit that costs twice as much you're a dumbass.

Paying for a label is stupid regardless the product and paying for more then you need is just as dumb.

Fancier clothing has basically no tangible benefits beyond subjective aesthetics or social posturing (look what I can afford to wear!) it's often less comfortable, provides less protection from the elements, is less durable, and is no more effective at making you not naked. When I see woman "dressed up" my first thoughts are more often "how much money better used elsewhere or saved did you waste on that outfit you might wear three times a year, that makeup we all know you're wearing so why bother, and how uncomfortable are you in those ridiculous heels" rather then how pretty she might be, which will ultimately be an entirely subjective assessment that varies by person.

Now if that's what people want to spend their money on, I won't begrudge them the right do so, but what does annoy me is how norms and mores conspire to try and force that sort of wastefulness on everyone. I respect your right to preen like a stupid peacock, so respect my right to save my money and dress functionally and economically, and don't expect your more expensive clothes and pointless cosmetics to impress anything upon me other then your wasteful spending habits.

I'm all for cheap clothing and nutritious food too if possible, that's what I mean with "not exactly a bad thing". However your argument falls apart the moment:

    A) We all live in society nor communities, so aesthetics and social posturing are important.
    B) We live in a capitalist system, so finding ways for taking money off from those have most is the basic base from it.
    C) You are commenting this in a place people post pictures about characters who even the most "neet" of them dresses as if they come from a fashion parade.
    D) Because of point C this is a big art catalog of fictional models in fancy lingerie, swimwear, maid outfits, school uniforms and Victorian dresses ever made.

In short you do care for aesthetics, yet you pretend you don't because you don't want to earn the money for them... or you are already past the aesthetics age.

That presumes people are all looking at all the things on Danbooru equally. If someone comes JUST for the mangas, that's not necessarily the case.

Paying for a label is stupid regardless the product and paying for more then you need is just as dumb.

That presumes that things really are all the same. Granted, in a lot of cases, they may well be, but there are many cases where brands can be quite different. When buying, say, chicken, specific companies control how the chickens are raised, and that determines a lot about the healthiness of the food you are eating. A Purdue chicken might be cheaper, but also much more likely to give you salmonella from their unsanitary farming practices.

Likewise, when I buy strawberries, I heavily prefer the brand Driscoll's, because they're not the same strawberry at all - they own their own proprietary hybrid breed of strawberry, and I find they taste significantly better than a lot of their competition.

Buying fish? Where they were caught matters. Recently, the Copper River in Alaska, where much "fresh wild" salmon is caught, has had regulations regarding (arsenic-based) seep-leach gold mining relaxed, and that has resulted in arsenic levels in those types of salmon rising. The farm raised catch from Chile is cheaper, and may well contain less poison.

Shopping based upon price, alone directly encourages all the worst sorts of cost-cutting measures by producers. This is why we constantly get reports of places like China putting talc in baby formula or lead paint on toys or the like.

That's not to say that something like Gucchi isn't putting on a 1000% markup just for the label, and you're well within your rights to tell those people to fuck off while hand sewing original outfits together from pieces you got from Goodwill for $2, the way Hamakaze's apparently doing things. However, when someone is undercutting the price of their competitiors, they're delivering products to market cheaper somehow, and while maybe it's all just a difference in marketing budget, that isn't always the case. Trying to buy cheaper, higher carb/fattier foods, in particular, can lead to health costs that vastly outweigh the few cents you save at Farm Fresh.
