When it comes to Taiyou, what draws my attention more than the carrier herself is her nemesis USS Rasher.

I-8 is treated strictly as the "went around Africa" ship. After that, the captain and crew were changed out, and it was the new captain and crew that was the notorious war criminal. I guess they hit Hachi with some sort of amnesia beam that only makes her remember her more presentable accomplishments earlier on, and it's Abyssal Hachi that would be the war criminal?

I assume she remembers everything, but doesn't mention that whole "repeated mass murder" thing because she's just as appalled by it as everyone else. On the other hand, she may not feel particularly responsible for it, because as the old saying goes, you can't pick your own family crew. All the same, the cruise to Germany is undoubtedly the better memory to spend time with.
