So far, it appears that Zounose's Momiji could probably use a good therapist right about now. Considering that she's already been shown to have personality issues, problems from being around drunk crow tengu, and perhaps tengu culture in general.

Ironically, for all her faults she's arguably one of the most human characters that Zounose presents. Compared to say a certain monk, at least.

Short, but interesting. That's zounose for you.

Yeah, every time Momiji shows up it's just to wonder what the hell is wrong with everyone else. Definitely a conscious choice from the author.

I'm glad that Zounose has diversified a bit and explored topics other than man-eating (the first stories feel sort of tiresome to me), but I don't mind a return to form when it's well-done and relatively tasteful like this here.

    (Heh. Tasteful.)

I guess it does help to have a straight man for the world of no common sense that is Gensokyo.

I like his work but what bugs me is most stories have the same overarching theme. Youkai/Gods does horrible thing, everyone shrugs their shoulders and goes that's Youkai for ya. I mean it's great for the first couple of stories but once the shock value wears thin and feels empty because there is just no real conflict in it.

I mostly just upload these because I want to see in what ways he makes my favorite characters into total asses.

    Thanks for the translation.

These stories are basically slice of youkai life at this point. It doesn't seem like Zounose is going for shock value.
You berate the characters shrugging off youkai doing nasty stuff and all, but I mean...they're not wrong. That's what youkai do. There's a good reason regular people are scared of them.

What I personally like most about Zounose is his gorgeous art and (oddly enough) sense of humor. Don't know how well it came across, but I was laughing out loud at Kanako and Suwako in this story.

And hey, an artist gotta have his niche in this cruel world.
