Reminds me of that Austin Power's communism scene, of all things

EDIT: Wait, is that title the actual translation, or is it supposed to be "Workers of the World, Unite"?

Anyone would be if the entire family got deported to Siberia for looking at a commissar funny or all shot for not praising the glorious leader enough.

Neat, Google Translate popped up with the whole title phrase with only 'Проле' entered! Can't comment on the accuracy though.

Ohhhh, that does make sense; Google gave the direct translation, not the idiomised phrase that became used for it.

For anyone who's played Red Alert 3, go read Gangut's lines in Premier Tim Curry's voice.

The phrase "Workers of the world, unite" is also written on the medal "Order of the Red Banner" awarded to Gangut.

Iowa said: The Soviet Union collapsed.

I'll be honest: i thought the translation note would be summary of what she meant by the collapse of the Soviet Union, seeing as we have a lot of historians here.

A warm place? Maybe she thinks this is Hell? And thinks it might be better than home.

Also, Warspite, dear. The Russian is older than you are, and has rather inferior guns next to yours and Iowa's...you very much outmatch the old Ruskie Dread.

Kinda strange for her to say that since she is still in her original Russian Empire form and not the Soviet form.

Also do remember, Gangut was a Pre-Soviet battleship so she has seen Tsarist Russia before it fell.

One ship lived during the fall of the Russian Monarchy and the start of Communism while the other lived during the fall of Communism and the start of Democracy. I wonder if the combination will result in an abridged timeline and a ship which lived through all four events.

<twitch> That game has less right to bear the name Red Alert (let alone Command & Conquer) than its immediate predecessor did.

Classic Red Alert serious atmosphere FTW!

Iowa is basically in the "Please, just let me shoot her. For the Greater Good, let me shoot her" state of mind.

If nothing less, it will vent all those Cold War fustrations of not being able to shoot the Ruskies, but having to settle on their proxies (for USS Iowa, that was North Koreans. USS New Jersey got to shoot at North Vietnamese as well to vent a little.) Everything else in the 1980s was preparing for the worst. Iowa took a turret explosion, and was put back into reserve as the Soviet Union and United States reach a sort of peace, followed by the Union just falling apart by the start of 1992.

My parents are survivors from the Khmers Rouges regime, they watched half of their family tree "disappears" because the kids serving as commissars thought they have not farmed hard enough or shit like that (The Killing Fields movie demonstrate well). So yeah, my entire childhood and teenage years had my parents telling me how the glorious revolution is bullshit and just an excuse for people to enact the worst in them.

OK, but there were also the times where she...

    • Took immediate exception to Amatsukaze and Taihou standing outside while a typhoon was going on, and shut down Yukikaze's delusions of beaverhood.
    • Called Hiei and Isokaze 'the punchline division'.
    • Was bemused at Iowa's weird logic when it comes to her 'dieting' method, mocked her when said method was proven to be all quackery, was again bemused at Iowa's paradoxical approach to fixing the problem, at which point she took matters into her own hands and set her on the right path.
    • Deadpanly commented on Iowa's boisterous entrance before having fun with the American shipgirl's aversion to nattou.
    • Reprimanded Iowa for getting distracted in the middle of battle by Pokemon Go, and confiscated her handheld console when she did it a second time.
    • Bemoaned Akigumo not coming to the Summer Event operation briefing yet again.
    • Was not amused at all by the lengths that Pola will go to in order to get her alcohol fix fulfilled.
    • Pointed out how celebrating KanColle's anniversary implies that the perpetuality of the conflict is considered a 'good' thing, which disturbs her... and not being amused by Ooyodo going meta on her.
    • Not being amused by certain shipgirls' reactions to this operation.
