    GIF Animation of Palmtop Professor Konoha Who Can No Longer Fly

    I tried animating palmtop Professor Konoha, who lost the ability to fly because she got all pudgy. (illust/63040921...) Using not just her wings but her arms as well, the island's leader determinedly gives it her best, bending her legs while flapping desperately so she gets at least a little off the ground.

    ■This looks like it'd use up a fair number of calories.

    It does use up a fair number of calories. When you get right down to it, there's no less efficient means of travel than flying. Larger birds like eagles and vultures even have to explicitly rely upon gliding and using updrafts from thermals just to cut down on the amount of wing-flapping they do to keep their large bodies aloft.
