I don't get it, why does Gangut's coat have a belt at the very bottom as well?

it doesn't look very practical either, running with a belt off is quite uncomfortable and if you use it like this it will heavely limit your movement too.

Obviously, she's getting ready for her appearance in the next Kingdom Hearts game as the guest party member for the KanColle world.

That aside, any idea why Gangut called Verniy 'Tiny One' aside from the latter being a destroyer?

    They'll get on fine.

As for the belt, I've not seen that; but I'm sure it's there to stop the wind from blowing the coat-flaps on the decks during a gale.

Since they don't actually need to move their legs all that much when sortieing (based on anime and a few common fan depictions) the belt on the bottom really wouldn't be that much of a hindrance at least when she's out at sea.

For when she's on base though... yeah I can't see much practicality to even having that versus maybe a zipper or buttons.

I get this feeling that Gangut and munmu's Admiral will get along quite nicely from morning practice with Kiso and the girls as well as facepalming at Gangut's selection of firearms because lolBerdan or Mosin-Nagant.

Though I haven't seen Verniy roll with him like how certain battleships, a reformatted carrier and a couple of cruisers do.

The belt is most likely to keep the bottom of the coat shut especially if it's very windy or during snowstorm or blizzard if caught outside. After all a closed coat keeps the wind from reaching your legs which keeps them more warm.

to be fair, Mosin-Nagant is quite a decent rifle. if you compare it with Kar98K or Lee Enfield. what truly facepalm worthy is what Warspite and Teste bring. I mean, flintlock muzzle loading ones? seriously

Being called tiny and being tiny are 2 different things maybe, and well being called Tiny by a Russian might have a different meaning maybe?

Different entities count 'first of class' in different ways, viz. laid down vs launched vs commissioned. Given that all of the Ganguts were officially (but not really) laid down on the same day, Gangut is the lead ship, and thus #1 of the class. The last ship launched, certainly - but first in the Gangut class of battleships.

Similarily, Tenryuu launched after Tatsuta - but it's still the first of the Tenryuu-class light cruisers, and Myouoku was the 3rd launched of her class.

Europe generally uses the first to be commissioned, and the US is a little weird in that it's the first ship that Congress gives the okay too - even if it gets laid down after the rest of the class is fully comissioned.

In defense of those two, they were going on a hunting expedition, not to war. Musket hunting is totally normal, and a magnum .70 cal cartridge from something like a brown bess or a charleville long rifle is certainly powerful enough for hunting boar.

Given her age, Gangut might like using something like a berdan 2 just as well.

To keep your coat tightly closed around hips and legs, duh. It's pretty cold in Russia, you know? Gotta have a good layer of clothes wrapped around every centimeter of your body, to keep the warmth in and cold, piercing wind out. But her coat design is retarded. A couple buttons would do, like on a real soviet military coat, no need for a belt, like some kind of FF character would wear.

Imagine a trench coat, with the buttons grouped at the bottom and midsection. But instead of buttons, it uses a belt. Same principle, with an option for letting the air in or keeping the wind off of you.

What do you mean "but not really"? Everywhere i look it same day. And why you decided that Gangut was lead-ship when even in design phase project was called Sevastopol?

The initial laying down was ceremonial, work didn't actually start on that very day. And while it might well be the 'Sevastapol-class' in Russian, in English and Japanese (and probably others), it's Gangut. I didn't decide anything myself.

When it comes down to it, ship class' names are just really what the military of a country calls it. If the USN/IJN wanted to call Gangut's class Sevastapol, it would have been. But I suspect that even though all the ships were laid down the same day, Gangut is (semi-)officially the 'first' to be laid down - and in the western class-naming convention, that means that it's the 'Gangut-class'.

Seeing as this is in Japanese (where it's Gangut) and translated into English (where it's also Gangut), there's no need to change it to fit the Russian naming convention.

Am I the only one who realizes that Verniy saying that she's "most senior in level second to the first flagship" naturally implies that she's one of the earliest shipgirls that Munmu's Admiral got, if not the actual second shipgirl he got?

Many small people are sillily stupid about their height ( silly because smallness is not a bad thing ); and small girls can go spare over the matter.

If I remember correctly Murakumo was his starter ship, would that make her the strongest in his fleet?

Looking at the artwork, clearly the belt is to hold the torpedoes and keep the jacket in place for that constant "fluttering in the wind" look.

Lol a bit late though. This is for those who are new and future generations. Fubuki in the game and anime is voiced by Uesaka Sumire. Herself is a graduate from Sophia University in which she majored in the Russian language. This is why user 200018 suggested Fubuki to translate/speak Russian in the reply above.

I thought that you might be a bit leery with your Japanese,
    Gangut-class battleships, First Ship, Gangut.
So we got someone to act as your language assistant for you.
And next to me is Warspite, who shall be acting as your instructor.
    Lovely to meet you!
    Hey!
    I AIN'T FRIGGIN' TINY!
I'm the most senior of the foreign ships, Bismarck.
    Verniy, come over here.
    I see!
I'll be under your care from here on.
I'll introduce myself - I'm Verniy, née "Hibiki”.
I'm the most senior in level second to the first flagship, so I've seen lots of faces come and go.
I'll be under your care then, tiny one.
