Didn't know the Luftwaffe had its own fleet until now.

That being said, a cynical, if not bitter/salty Purin is fine, too.

Every part of the armed forces hated between themselves, because it meant less resource to your own force. The only country that could find that foreign was the US, because their near limitless resources.

Even in the UK, where the naval air force was asssociated with the air force until 1938, then given to the navy (reason of the UK's obsolescence in that arm until 1941 that they catched up with the times)

And even America has their share of interservice rivalry. MacArthur and Nimitz were rivals, and of course there's the famous quote

Göring who tried to glorify his Luftwaffe, Hitler who thought it was a good idea.

    Classic Führer right there.

Bismarck, why are you so surprised? Every branch of service usually has equipment you would think belong to the other two. The US Army for example has light naval vessels and tons of aircraft, the Navy has the Marines and tons of aircraft, and the Air Force has tons of aircraft and whatever ground crews they need, along with appropriate land and water based logistics vehicles.

Consider this guy was responsible for inventing the deliberate fire-storming of Japanese cities that left a million dead in Tokyo, plus many other cities, plus his job in handling his Soviet "adversaries" was "complete nuclear annihilation". This is the guy who Jack D. Ripper from Doctor Strangelove was based upon, the man selected to lead the nuclear attack specifically because America wanted to announce to the world that they'd given their nukes to someone crazy enough to use them at a moment's notice.

I hate to even IMAGINE what he'd want to do to the Navy if he hated them worse than the Soviets...

Doenitz probably bit his lip so hard as he silently listened to Hitler's bitching as well as von Tirpitz turning in his grave.

There's no Bismarck in this strip. Only Graf Zeppelin and Prinz Eugen.

The US Army for example has light naval vessels and tons of aircraft, the Navy has the Marines and tons of aircraft, and the Air Force has tons of aircraft and whatever ground crews they need, along with appropriate land and water based logistics vehicles.

The US army today only operates what are basically some landing craft with some self-deployment and coastal capabilities and harbor craft used by the corp of engineers, and they're restricted by law from possessing any fixed wing combat aircraft. The Marines are not part of the Navy. The heaviest land warfare equipment used by the Air Force is an armored Humvee and small arms for base security.

In any case their is a major difference between operating some bits of ancillary equipment that could be needed in certain aspects of your primary task and operating equipment and units that are clearly totally divorced from said task. An Army operating coastal transports and landing craft for running supplies and moving units inshore in theaters with allot of water along with a few gun boats to escort them is logical. The (Army) Air Force having a few depot vessels that can anchor off an island airbase to provide support services for the unit based their without having to build them new every time you move to a new island is logical.

It's providing an organic service in direct support of the branches main mission and it's so closely linked to their specific needs that placing it under someone else's control would just make it less efficient. However by contrast the army running escort carriers with open ocean convoys or the Air Force having tank battalions is NOT logical. The only thing is likely to do is result in pointless duplication of effort and a shitty carrier and tank unit due to a lack of needed experience and supporting organization.

Back in LeMay's day, Congress was debating over funding strategic bombers or super carriers (pre-ICBMs era). USS United States (CVA-58) was laided down as a carrier that could launched heavy bombers to preform nuclear strikes for the Navy, than cancelled in favor of B-36 bombers for the Air Force. The B-36 never saw combat from what I recall. There was a lot of stuff that went down over this (Admiral got sacked) that resolved itself after the Navy proved vital during the Korean War (leading to more people being sacked) The USS Forrestal (CVA-59) was built following the cancelled USS United States as a more traditional attack carrier of unusual size.

Well, they did bomb her or otherwise lead to the sinking of z1 and z3, defund her branch, pull a retard in Russia and then leave her admiral to surrender to the Allies after committing die and escaping to American lines respectively.

Which then landed Prinz a spot at the post-war Sunny Side Bikini Pyrotechnic Festival.

There's those that were made from the start as warships - the "Schleuderschiffe", and those remodelled from commercial vessels - the "Katapultschiffe".
Where did she pop up from...?
They were all good kids at that site, though~ ...heheh.
Really, what were that morphine fat-ass and tiny-stache geezer even thinking? Such dummköpfe. Göring and Hitler, respectively
    What's the matter?
    ...kamo?
    Wait! Waaait!
I was told that there were also seaplane tenders in Germany...
We'd love it if you could maybe tell us what kind of kids they are!
    Ahh...
About the "Katapultschiff" and "Schleuderschiff", ja?

    If I remember correctly...
    Air force-operated warships...!?
No, those ladies were actually assigned to the air forceLuftwaffe, you know. In those days.
    Akitsushima and Kamoi?
And that's not all, they had airborne troops and a tank corps too~
    Eh!?
    ...seems?
By-and-large, they operated about 2-3 flying boats on patrol and rescue missions, it seems.
"Schleuderschiffe" were pretty much all inside the "Katapultschiff" category, though.... well, they are seaplane & aircraft carriers at any rate.
    Zeppelin-chaaan!
