Cruz Azul has been infamous for not being able to win a single league title for 20 years, and losing several games (including four league finals in the last decade) in such dramatic ways that "cruzazulear" has become a colloquial word for describing an outcome against all expectations. The most notorious example is when in 2013; during a final match against all-time rival team America, they had an advantage of 2 goals for 88 minutes of the game, only to receive 2 goals in the remaining 5 minutes (one of which was scored by rival goalkeeper) and then doing awful at the penalty shootout.
Now imagine this situation repeating many times every season, angering the fans and becoming a laughingstock for everyone else. That's how bad the Cruz Azul curse is.
TL;DR: Cruz Azul is a team that regularly does things well but loses everything in the last minute. This curse has been on for so many years, not even Hina could help them get rid of that level of misfortune.
Not even Collingwood's infamous 'Collywobbles" at their worst can be as unfortunate as this teams misfortunes, as in Collingwood's case it usually only struck "once' a year (either in a sudden death semi-final or the VFL/AFL grand final).
