    Or Dora.

Try fitting those into a turret on an H44 hull. Still only get two most likely.

To be fair the major downfall of those tanks was the low crew numbers making it difficult by having to focus on one specific action.

Especially the commanders were kinda screwed considering they had to be the gunner/loader for the main guns while leading the tank...

When french tanks got to fight properly they proved to be very strong against german tanks which mostly comprised of Pzkpfw Is, IIs, several IIIs, plus the occasional StuG and Pzkpfw IV but both of these were equipped with 75mm mortars, not the 37mm AP guns the Pzkpfw III had at the time.

The 37mm gun being the go to anti armor gun had issues penetrating B1 tanks and sometimes even S35 Somuas, which was part of the reason for why the german army had wanted to use 50mm guns on it's Pzkpfw IIIs (And later upgraded to these), however these guns weren't ready by the time of the invasion.

The rest is up to inproper use of tanks as infantry support rather than cavalry and holding back the modern aircrafts that were on par with Germany's (and better in terms of fuel and hence maximum flight time) kinda didn't help either... but that's what you get for letting the same guys have their hands in the military that later were part of the Vichy faction.

Almost like they didn't want to win the war...

    --------------

Disclaimer: That is not to say that France stood a chance against Germany, but in a straight up fight B1 vs. Pzkpfw III Ausf. A... I'd take the B1 thank you very much.

Well, French tank designed standardized their turrets very early. So early that the Renault FT-17 was still in use. And that's why all WW2 French tanks have tiny turrets, because they have the same width and height as the Renault FT-17 turret.

Not all. The Renault AMC 35 had a two-seater turret. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_35
Plus, the Somua 35 had a wider turret which allowed a second man to assist in the loading of the semi-automatic gun.

Also, the new tanks in production in 40 which were improvements of the older ones, had a new two-seater turret as well ; such as the Somua 40 and the B1 ter.

Moreover, A brand new tank was in developpement, the project G1, and was supposed to have a three-seater turret. The specifications required for that tank by the high-command would have made it very similar to a M4 Sherman or a T-34. The most advanced of the prototypes before the Fall of France was the Renault G1R. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Char_G1#Char_G1R

If it's a German souvenir, a Luger would have been great...
It's a bit odd to be thinking that our fleet would be saury-fishing, though...
All the group leaaaaders! Do a roll call, pleaaase!
    Follow my instructiooooons!
If we take the railway, then we'll make it in time for saury fishing!
I certainly splurged on the souvenirs!
Says the one who bought some herself too, Nachi.
Not like we go to Europe often, now do we~
    Brand goods are so cheap!
All us Germans got that there as a souvenir too.
    Whoaaaa! Awesoooome!!
No, that's out of the question...
Really, we're not playing tourist here.
Could you please not bring that vulgar monstrosity into Paris?
