Oh, a new victim of idiocy and myopia ...
According to new data from the Institute of National Memory (INP) scientists, the number of Polish citizens of Polish, Jewish, Belarusian, Lithuanian, Czech and other nationalities who died from 1939 to 1945 is from 5.6 to 5.8 million. They were killed by the Nazis.

From the hands of the Red Army and special services, 150,000 Poles were killed. Most of them fought on the side of the Nazis and killed their own fellow citizens: Jews, Gypsies, Poles and so on. In addition, the Germans have replaced a large number of monuments of architecture and world heritage. And who saved them !? Allies? No! Russian sappers, at the cost of many lives!

You probably think that the Russians also dropped the atomic bomb on Japan !? I will not be surprised ...

I would argue that they did more harm to the country in general, they might have not killed as many but they still fucked over and set back entire nation until '89. That is if you dont belive that they "liberated" Poland.

Hey, at least Poland wasn't included in USSR as some kind of Polish Soviet Socialist Republic.
Also, were Poland to be liberated under the government of Władysław Raczkiewicz in 1945, it would still be pretty uncomfortable for them. USSR on the East, DDR on the West, Czechoslovakia on the South.

Who invaded them in the first place in 1939? Russians in collusion with Hitler, who then spent decades suppressing their culture and littering there nation with farcical monuments to glory of it's political ideology? Russia. Who exactly has myopia comrade? Also given even the slightest say in the matter Poland would have wanted the backstabbing Russians nowhere near them, but Poland had no say because Russia was as bad as Nazi Germany, but was allowed to keep it's illegally seized new provinces under the most laughably transparent pretensions of their "independence".

It would oppresses and exploit them as the colonies they were for the next four decades doing longer lasting damage then the Nazi could in the four or so years they had.

And nothing has changed Russia is still a self-serving autocratic state that abuses and invades it's neighbors in naked land grabs. Points for consistency at least Comrade.

    Except it basically was.

They let them keep there name, but Poland had basically no will of it's own it's government was violently changed to communism and it's foreign policy largely dictated by the soviet union in all areas beyond the trivial under threat of invasion and destruction if it dared try to change it or defy Soviet will. Anyone that spoke out against it disappeared or was simply executed on trumped up charges. There "independence" is as much of a joke as all the dictatorships with the name "people's whatever" in there names, ask the Hungarians how "independent" they were.

Also, were Poland to be liberated under the government of Władysław Raczkiewicz in 1945, it would still be pretty uncomfortable for them. USSR on the East, DDR on the West, Czechoslovakia on the South.

Uncomfortable is better then violently oppressed and effectively occupied, I think say Finland can agree.

How is the west "fucked up" besides not having lingering social, political, and economic issues caused by decades of oppressive police states, occupation, and enforced economic ruin to deal with? Absolutely nothing good came out of the Soviet occupation of the east, fuck nothing good came out of soviet occupation of Russia!

Oh wow, what do they teach in Glorious Soviet History Lessons? You remember that part where during the Warsaw Uprising the Red Army sat outside watching the Germans exterminate the remains of the Polish army and the rebelling citizens? What happened after that? Could it have been that once the uprising was put down the survivors of the 'politically dangerous' Polish army, about 15,000 of them were lead away by the Soviets and executed. Even better, they tried to pin the blame on the Germans! Then, once the undesirables were out of the way, they marched in and unilaterally installed a pro-Moscow government (yes I am aware that other nations do that too and I detest it just as much) and then basically bled the country white for 50 years.

Why else would you pass up a chance to show everyone how right you are? Or better yet, how wrong that other guy is?!

Pro-Soviet comments are deleted, and the anti-Soviet remains. And where, after that, totalitarianism and concealment of truth?
And I like how people talk about how bad is Soviet for "saving" Poland and forgot about Zaolzie. When Poland took part of the territory from Czechoslovakia, which was betrayed by all of Europe by Munich Agreement.

    Second that.
If people can say there that by invading Poland in 1939 and annexing West Ukraine and Wset Belarus Soviet Union became an ally of Nazi Reich, then I can say that by invading Czechoslovakia in 1938 and annexing Těšín Poland became an ally of Nazi Reich too.

Still remains a fact that y'all basically made Poland a puppet state until the Soviet Union began to enter its downward spiral. Most of the other countries in that region too. And then y'all wonder why some of them want in NATO and y'all feel threatened by it.

I KNEW IT! I knew it gonna be called that! I just got a hunch because that's the only bear in the Base and the bear who always follow in the World War 2 is Wotjek, the Polish bear. I know is not relevan because there's no Polish, but with the bear in the base, it 's bound to happen!
    .

I hope someone make a movie about Wotjek.

Because the anti-soviet comments are you know... based in historical fact, while the pro soviet ones are pretty much just delusional propaganda and willful ignorance, also "they did it too" is just a pathetic excuse. Also addressing the other guy what exactly do you call an offical agreement between two state governments where they agree to cooperate in violently annexing their neighbors if it's apparently NOT an alliance?

Anyone that is actually legitimately pro-soviet can be safely considered in the same class as neo-nazis. They both apparently think that murderous regimes that killed millions of their own people, invaded their neighbors at whim, and basically led their nations to ruin apparently had some kind of upside. The USSR beating Nazi Germany doesn't make them heroes, anymore then a violent rapist killing a murder because he was about to shot his next victim would be.

The Soviet Union was a unethical and murderous state, the fact it happened to eventually come into conflict with and defeat an equally to somewhat more vile nation does not change this fact.

I am sure I will regret getting involved in someone else's debate but...

If I ask my South-African white parents about the pre-Apartheid times and read the news written by white people for white people, does that make South Africa a very nice place for everybody at that time?
