Of course, you have to think quickly and grab the right one. It's like rubbing your tummy and patting your head. You see this game played in the manga Yotsuba.

Len seems to try to balance out the dickishness Rin presents to CMiku by being the bestest niichan *ever*.

I remember playing this when I was young, though we used a plastic colander and one of those Christmas wrapping paper tubes. The game ended when the tube got too bent up after hitting too hard.
