I find it funny saying AL Inazuma is "typical", while KC Inazuma is easily confusable with several other shipgirls.
Admittedly her artist is a bit limited, but she and her 3 sisters stand out among his creations, and that sort of hair style she has isn't terribly common (only other case would be the heroine of SRW V, Chitose). It also helps that he doesn't put any other shipgirl family he does in the same color uniform. Now Fubuki's sisters on the other hand....
KC sort of has an exemption due to being the trailblazer in this subgenre. (see Street Fighter 2 and its character designs)

Well you can look at some of AL's other designs for real examples of that.

Well from what I saw of actual art of AL Inazuma, she looked pretty lolish in some sort of mash up of things. Typical KC clone design tend to amount to slapping ship parts on to either super generic designs or trying too hard. AL Inazuma in particular looks like someone from a generic cute'em up.
Edit: I did hear that Inazuma was the most popular starter.
