It can't be helped... dropping Yamagumo for a submarine...
One of the tactics used in the final map of the event at the time of drawing is to replace a Nishimura fleet member with a submarine to tank damage.

Real Admirals will do Surigao with the full Nishimura Fleet.

Then you're not a real admiral. The map is easy even without sub cheesing.

So, speaking as someone who doesn't play, but do you need 6? Because it seems like the easy/jerk solution to this problem is to just drop both of them and take a sub and a different class of ship.

For hard you need 6 of them for the shortest southern route, based on Nishimura's historical approach into Surigao Strait. But what's the point of giving them a chance to try and find victory this time if you're just going to cheese the map with a sub?

Because insanity is trying the same thing and expecting a different outcome?

It's not like Nishimura's fleet was made up of those ships for the sole reason of fighting a fair fight against worthy foes, they were on a sneak attack and the enemy caught them and outmatched them. The whole point was that they were fighting a battle they never should have fought in the first place, made up with a fleet of the survivors of other fleets thrown together in a scramble to put together what fighting force they could muster to slow down a losing battle with a last gasp at making the enemy stumble in trying to take away their last source of fuel oil. If the Japanese could have a do-over, they wouldn't send the same ships into the same trap, BUT WITH MORE HONOR! They would send the ships on some other route to try to sink the convoys further out from the landing sites or some other way to avoid the American fleet that would always crush them with overwhelming force to start with.

Except that's how KanColle events are. You'd know this if you played the game. And I already said the map is easy. The boss only has 1 Hime before last dance, and even then other hime is in the escort fleet so you don't fight her when going into day battle where the main boss is usually left on her own to be blasted off the water by LBAS, and then get finished off by day time cut-ins from Yamashiro and Fusou. There's nothing enjoyable about cheesing your way through the route to get a trivial fight at the end.

Dude, there's no need to comment on other's play style. Finish the event on Hard with full Nishimura Fleet does bring more self-satisfication, and I did so too, but that doesn't make the others less "real admiral".

It was bants. Anyone without a married Nishimura girl should just go full Oldendorf and bring 6BBs+SS. What? Resources? Who gives a shit.

Sad to say that it was also a honor to face the enemy against overwhelming odds and of course that leads to a nice grave under the sea. This isn't the last time Japanese done in their lifetime.

You can opt out those two on the sortie, and they can lead support expedition on the boss node or en route

They will still be involved on the battle (for historical sake) somehow, killing mobs & stuff, albeit in the different role

I just use whatever works best, and is the most efficient resource usage wise. To me, using all 7 is pointless because even if I can easily clear the map with that, bringing a sub still uses less resources.

For the record, I dropped Mogami for the sub because DDs are better against imps, and I didn't need seaplane fighters to get AS due to all that fighter power I stacked in my land bases. I just brought two zuiuns, one on each Fusou-class.

Well, you are not required to let the 7 of Nishimura fight.
But for the feelings of it only, I'm sure many still sortied all 7 of them. Just for the feelings of it.

Other people may have some other feelings when they clear with all 7 Nishimuras. And that's fine. But that's them, not me. The only feeling I'd get by doing that is the feeling that I wasted unnecessary resources that I could've used on something else, like farming or ranking.

For "tactical" advantages which to me simply refer as Settling Grudges, using historical-based ships had advantages. Sure you can use anyone else, but there is still a good thing if you allow them to settle a very long grudge/restoring their honor.

Sadly the previous event had led a lot of admirals to made errors of mistagging the ships they need in the latter maps.
