If only facing and defeating one's own PTSD in actuality could be so epic.
Fiction in general has a tendency to externalize internal conflicts.
Still, I think anyone who has or deals with someone who has PTSD would actually wish that one's PTSD could be defeated so decisively. It's not like it just goes away after a good nap like a fever and you're fine again.
