No mean to be mean but whoever did this shoulda got more practice and lessons before actually bang those text in.
Better positioning and refurbishment is certainly necessary.
And they say when the pennies drop...

Looking at the source it's Ido themself that hard-translated this.

It's still fair to say that the typesetting isn't very good. It's an honor to our translators that the original artist appreciates their translations, but a good hard-translation requires more than just wedging English text in the place of speech bubbles intended to accommodate Japanese.

No offense meant to the artist, of course. I'd be happy for him to focus on the art and story and to continue to design his work toward his primary audience rather than spend the time to re-compose old works for wide instead of tall speech bubbles.

Congrats! Never thought we'd see an artist making these himself :D

From what I read, you're going to meet him in person at the Comiket? I'm so jealous.

    It is pretty surprising, yeah.

Also, it seems that someone has also helpfully provided Ido with a quick primer on 'how to format English speech bubbles' on twitter, so hopefully if/when he finds the time to do another one, it should look much better (if only through fitting in the bubbles properly - which as you can see, he's actually redrawn a little).

It's not hard to meet all your favourite artists at Comiket! Well, as long as they're actually at the table when you go... (Or worse, have already sold out and left for the day) Being able to have more than a few words as you pick up their newest volume - now that's a different story. Hopefully, I'll be able to have a quick chat with Ido in a couple weeks...

Good luck Paracite! Let him know that he has a lot of fans here in Danbooru.

I wonder how it feels knowing your works are popular overseas and among people who, for the most part, don't even understand the language.

This reminds me of a similar doujinka meets gaijin situation with warugaki#41706.

    There's a trope for that.

It is. He's reading the strips here and hard translating for us.

And he's reading the comments too.

Had to wait until pretty much the end to do it (Ido had a proper line until the end!), but I was able to have a nice 5-minute chat with Ido-san.

All-round nice guy, really friendly, and he's really glad that his humor can get through the 'international barrier' successfully!
And of course, I told him he's super popular here too.
