Apparently luck must be one heck of a stat, if having it as your only low stat means you're the series punching bag.
This is something that people have pointed out a lot with Saber. With her stats she should be damn well unstoppable, but reality and statistics don't always mesh together. The best explanation for this is that in battle there are always changing variables and Saber is too... reliably consistent, meaning she has no real surprise factor. Basically she's undeniably a beast and a threat to take seriously but she's predictable and against servants with wildcard abilities she suffers.
Low luck isn't a prerequisite to become a Lancer (seeing ROMAulus' luck), but it's an indication of one's ability to change their fate as much as it is actual good fortune. A low luck stat usually means the person played out their fate to the letter in life, and so is doomed to be unable to change the outcome from what it's "supposed to be". D rank + some know-how is apparently enough to not get shanked through the heart by Gae Bolg, so even that little can allow for a predetermined outcome to get stuffed.

I would argue that having abysmal luck is a prerequisite to being a Lancer because being a Lancer is suffering, you maybe immortal but your a blood knight in an empty world (Scathach or Lancer Arthuria), being too handsome that its a curse (Diarmund and Cu Chulain), even Karna won't be immune next to cement your title as an actual Lancer you are forced to commit suicide via command seals (Cu Chulain and Diarmund) or be the first to kick the bucket by fighting a servant who are ways over your league (Vlad Tepes, Cu Chulain) that is the fate of a Lancer bonus points if your servant life is written by Gen Urobochi I won't be surprised if Shirou Amakusa would use a command seal on Karna and force him to commit suicide
Not sure if you got the point. Because "being Lancer is suffering" is just a meme and it's only as legit as memes goes. Not to mention again, Romulus and ironically, how Karna actually died in Apocrypha disproved your point(not sure why you'd make such claims to begin with when Karna already died like 2 weeks ago in the anime).
Yes, there's a pattern that Lancer got screwed over in most Fate stories, but that's kinda confirmation bias. Holy Grail Wars are battle royales, it's a given the majority of the characters of characters will die, so when you stop using this meme to reinforce your bias, you'll see other classes suffer as well, especially ones that died a disposable mook's death without any fanfare(Zero Hassan, Spartacus, Jack the Loli, Medea, Medusa in several routes, etc).

Saber had luck B rank under Shirou, A+ under Rin ( and protag FGO somehow)
