I remember reading the rules of one of these high school dating simulator games where it was possible to date custom characters, but if you dated more than one, they would confront you and try to force you to choose, immediately breaking off the relationship with the loser. There was a trick to it, though, where you could give your character partial (selective) deafness that let them cancel out of any conversation by saying "HUH? CAN'T HEAR YOU!", and then using another ability that lets you run really fast to simply outrun the romantic interests that were trying to force you to make a decision. So long as you kept evading responsibility, you could juggle a harem forever!

They also don't care they're in a harem, so it's fine. He just has to keep in mind that he should talk up the ones in direct earshot the most without actually badmouthing anyone in case they're potentially about to walk in.
