Came to see Mount Fuji by bike [Daily Kirisawa]
Watching Rin-chan go from here to getting her license and finally owning a scooter feels like watching a junior of mine hit their stride. It makes me either want to say something, hold myself back because it's none of my business, or feel uneasy about it. Back when I was a student, whenever I had to work on an art assignment, I'd find myself drifting back to those long rides I used to take on a scooter, a Cub, or a 250cc motorcycle.
When I was a kid, my parents would often take me and my younger brother and sister camping during Golden Week or summer vacation. We would have a barbecue with the meat we bought at a rest stop right by a local street, fall asleep in a tent as we wrapped ourselves in sleeping bags, and wake up earlier than usual to walk around in our sneakers which were soaked in the morning dew. Hiroshima has the sea, mountains, and rivers, so it's the perfect place for camping.
◎ I've compiled a collection of Daily Kirisawa illustrations and comics into a book. Extra copies are available at Comic ZIN and Melonbooks.
