I can't wait to see what フィ has to say about this in that last panel.

after trans: Well, so much for him being a chaperone, i guess.

I'm pretty tired here, and that's not wordplay that exists directly in English... so any improvements are welcomed.

Poor choice of words from Fujimaru, she wants his opinion, not her own, it gives the impression that he doesn't take the shopping seriously.

For the translation: the world choice is good for the point in question if the goal was to get the iteration between the protagonist and Komash's sentence down to one word. Another option to use if it's a polite/uncertainty element vs. formal/assertive element is English probability words. "This could.", "Perhaps this?" or "Could this?" has the same difference to "This would.", "This should." and "This will." that "isn't this?" and "This is." does.

Some of the former options have a more relaxed tone if you wanted to make KoMash sound more casual or maybe a bit younger, as "This one is nice!" is a little stiff for most people and carries a more commanding undertone. Alternately "This is nice!" is more abbreviated and alleviates some of the stiffness of using complement words in shorter sentences.

I only know a little bit about Japanese conjunctions and modifier words, but hopefully this suggestion gives some ideas later.

Would just adding stress and emphasis on a word be enough?

For example if we also add the word 'quite' in the sentence above, we can have:

    "This is quite nice"
which can be seen as a kind offhand remark and

    "This is QUITE nice"

With the emphasis on the word 'quite' giving a bit more oomph in regards to request/desires

This is probably enough to convey the wordplay in KoMashu's final bubble?

For example if we also add the word 'quite' in the sentence above, we can have 2 sentences:

    "This is quite nice" and
    "This is QUITE nice"

With the latter sentence giving a bit more oomph in regards to request/desires

This is probably enough to convey the wordplay in KoMashu's final bubble?

In normal writing, then yes that would work, but the translated sentence dictates that KoMash is pointing out a literal difference in the two words. Saying they are the same word would be taking a more liberal translation, as well taking a poor translation since it would be obvious to anyone actually trying to read the Japanese text that they are different words. The words are also quoted, so ignoring two direct references to sentence structure would be taking a big liberty at that.

It's a bit of a leap to go in that direction.

The last panel is a pretty good insight into the feminine psyche...

Guess I'll just have to choose one fast...
    That was handled poorly, Master.
    I-Isn't this one nice?
Fionn, you're on standby outside the store.
You can't just be all "isn't this one nice"! You need choose with "This one is nice"! Okay, this is wordplay this is hard to pull off in English well. Komashu says that you can't use "de", but you have to use "ga" after the "this". With 'de' it's implying that choosing this is a good thing to do, but with 'ga', it is implying that the item that chosen is itself good. So Komashu wants Gudao to say that the panties are nice (to him), not just that choosing the ones he's showing is good.
    FIO
    Uu... sorry.
    It's not like that!
    Erm... didn't you like it?
