I see Max isn't much of a sports fan.

    Edit:
Is it just me, or does 'sehr wundervoll' sound a bit awkward (vs. say, 'sehr wunderbar', or even 'ausgesprochen wundervoll')? It feels like saying "very enormous", where the intensifier doesn't go well with the strong adjective. Can a native German speaker confirm?

U-511 is like that due to Orel Cruising and not the results of the game. Poor gal probably doesn't even know the World Cup is on. Just KEEP GOING BACK TO THE OREL SEA FOREVER

She's checking what happened on her cell phone while cruising.

But Enemy Naval Mine apparently picked up Germany as its/his/her(?) favorite team!

Well, the artist probably just google translated the sentence again.
Most Japaneses suck at foreign languages so cut them a little slack if you can. I'm having a hard time doing so too though.

This one's pretty good (especially compared to most machine translations). It's just sounds a tiny bit off to me, and I'm not even entirely sure of it since I'm not a native speaker. Just asking around to clarify for my own learning purposes.

"You rather say "ganz wundervoll" than "sehr wundervoll"." is what someone called Provence told me. In other words, you're right.

Ah, thanks. So, 'completely', huh... I think I get it now — wundervoll sort of acts like an absolute adjective (like English 'perfect', 'dead', 'pregnant') and expresses the pinnacle of wonderment. Going from this assumption, you can't have degrees of wundervoll, so more wundervoll (like "more dead") wouldn't make sense. Ganz wundervoll works though, like "completely dead".

Thanks again for the reply. And thank you too, Provence, for the excellent example.

    (Edited for clarity.)

Being a native speaker i can confirm that ganz wundervoll would be more normal.
